This guide is part of our overview on Shopware migration: process, timeline and costs of moving to Shopware 6, plus all related guides.
At solution25, we have helped many businesses launch their Shopware shops, and we know exactly what can go wrong when you are not fully prepared. That is why we have put together a detailed, real-world Shopware pre-launch checklist for UK merchants. It is not just a list of tasks: it is a complete blueprint to help you launch with confidence, clarity and zero surprises.
Before you open your doors to customers across the UK and beyond, you need to make sure everything works: every product page, every payment method, every click. Launching a Shopware shop is more than pushing a button. It is about building trust with your customers from the very first interaction.

A strong foundation means fewer problems later. This is where we make sure your core settings are aligned with your business model and market.
Now’s the time to ensure your product listings are complete and polished.
Your store’s design is your first impression, make it count.
A smooth checkout equals more sales. A broken one costs you everything.
Compliance builds trust and protects your business.
If Google and customers can’t find or load your site, it won’t matter how great it looks.
Security lapses can damage trust and your bottom line.
Test everything like a real customer from homepage to refund email.
Know what’s happening on your store right from launch.
Even perfect launches need follow-up. Have a plan.
The pre-go-live checklist covers launch risks, but risk management considerations beyond the pre-launch checklist are equally important; post-launch risks including security patches, major version upgrades, and third-party plugin updates all need a documented risk management approach to protect your store’s stability long-term.
At solution25, we treat every product launch like opening night. Behind the scenes, everything must be tested, refined and ready, because when your website goes live, your audience is watching.
This comprehensive launch checklist walks you through every critical step of the process, for a smooth, stress-free and successful launch. No surprises. No crossed fingers. Just confidence.
If you are a UK merchant looking for a team with proven experience in go-live support, launch strategy and performance optimisation, we are here to help every step of the way.
Let us make your launch day a milestone worth celebrating and a platform for visibility and growth.
Ten areas in total: store configuration (language, currency, SSL, email templates), product and catalogue data, frontend design and UX, checkout and payment testing, legal and cookie compliance, SEO and performance, security setup, end-to-end testing, analytics and tracking, and a post-launch support plan. Missing any one of these can cause real problems from day one, whether that is a broken payment flow, a compliance issue or a drop in search rankings.
A broken checkout is the most costly launch mistake possible. Before going live, every payment method (for UK shops typically cards, PayPal, Klarna, Apple Pay and Clearpay) needs to be tested fully through to order confirmation, including guest checkout, VAT calculation (20 % standard rate in the UK, plus the rules for any EU countries you ship to), invoice PDF generation and the thank-you page redirect. If refunds and cancellations are part of your operation, those flows need testing too. Payment issues on launch day do not just lose individual sales, they damage trust immediately.
Page titles, meta descriptions and heading structures need to be in place across all key pages. The robots.txt and sitemap.xml need to be correctly configured. If you are migrating from another platform, 301 redirects from old URLs must be set up before the DNS switches over. Canonical tags, lazy-loaded images, minified CSS and JS, CDN configuration and Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP) should all be reviewed before launch, not after.
At minimum: Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, Returns Policy and clear company information (name, registered address, company number and VAT number, as required by the Electronic Commerce Regulations 2002 and the Companies Act). Under UK GDPR and PECR, non-essential cookies need prior consent, and email opt-ins must not be pre-ticked. Consumers have a 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, so your returns process must reflect it. If you sell age-restricted products, age verification needs to be configured at checkout. Processes for data access and deletion requests under UK GDPR should be in place before you accept your first customer.
Yes. We treat every launch like opening night. The full checklist is a standard part of every Shopware build and migration we deliver, including for UK merchants, not an optional extra. We test everything from browsing and search to checkout, integrations, tracking and security before any shop goes live.
