NMI (Network Merchants Inc.) is a US-based payment gateway commonly used by independent payment facilitators, ISOs, and merchants who process payments through a reseller rather than directly with a card network. It is also a strong fit for businesses that need recurring billing alongside standard card payments. The solution25-built plugin connects NMI directly to Shopware 6, making it a practical choice for merchants already operating within the NMI ecosystem, including UK businesses that sell to US customers or work with US-based payment partners.
The plugin covers credit and debit cards, BECS Direct Debit for Australian bank account payments, Visa Checkout for one-click digital wallet payments, and recurring/subscription payments with flexible billing cycles. Saved cards via the Customer Vault allow returning customers to complete purchases faster without re-entering payment details. All methods are managed from within the standard Shopware admin interface.
The Customer Vault is NMI's tokenisation system. When a customer saves their payment details, NMI stores a secure token rather than raw card data. This token is reused for future transactions, enabling faster repeat checkouts and powering recurring billing for subscription products. Card data never touches your Shopware server, which significantly reduces your PCI compliance scope.
Yes. The plugin includes support for 3D Secure (3DS) and Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), which are required for card transactions in the EU under PSD2 and in the UK under the Payment Services Regulations 2017, supervised by the FCA. This helps your Shopware store remain compliant for UK and European customers while also providing an additional layer of fraud protection by authenticating the cardholder at the point of payment.
It is available through the Shopware Store at store.shopware.com. For setup support or questions from UK merchants about whether NMI is the right gateway for your Shopware store, contact solution25 at info@solution25.com or call +49 421 438 1919-0.
