Cybersource is a payment management platform owned by Visa, making it one of the most widely trusted card processing solutions available to merchants, including in the UK. The solution25-built plugin connects it directly to Shopware 6, giving merchants access to Visa's global payment infrastructure with the flexibility of Shopware's open-source architecture.
These are the two transaction modes configurable in the plugin settings. Auth & Capture charges the customer immediately at checkout, which is the standard approach for most retail orders. Auth Only authorises the card and reserves the funds without capturing them, leaving you to capture manually when the order is ready to fulfil. Auth Only is commonly used for pre-orders, made-to-order products, or B2B workflows where payment should only be collected once fulfilment is confirmed.
Yes. The plugin supports saved card functionality using Cybersource's tokenisation. Card data is never stored on your Shopware server. Only the token is retained, which keeps you out of direct scope for card data compliance while giving returning customers a faster checkout experience. Customers can also update or remove saved cards from their account.
Everything is managed from within the Shopware admin. Captures, refunds, cancellations, and order changes are all handled directly from the order detail view without needing to log into a separate Cybersource dashboard. Payment status updates happen in real time so your team always has an accurate picture of each transaction.
