Using cross-selling, upselling, and showing related products in Shopware or any web shop is important, because that way you can boost the overall sales of your shop.

The purpose of cross-selling can be either to increase the income derived from the client or to protect and further improve the trust and relationship with clients. There can be various approaches when it comes to the process of cross-selling.Unlike the acquisition of the new business, cross-selling involves an element of risk that could disrupt the relationship of existing clients. There are differences between cross-selling and upselling

Upselling means that we want to sell to our customers something more expensive, for example, we are a restaurant and we want to sell the most expensive drink (the larger one) and we tell them that it is cheaper to buy a larger drink than to buy a smaller drink, therefore our customers will buy the larger drink because they think that is cheaper and more beneficial.

On the other hand, cross-selling is different because as a restaurant, it’s important to sell as many products as you can, so you apply cross-selling. Cross-selling is when you add some additional products to the product that you are already selling. For example, if you sell a hamburger and you ask your customer if you want some fries and drinks.

It’s more a psychological thing because the customer thinks that it’s cheaper than to buy it separated from the burger. Upselling and cross-selling are used a lot in Shopware since we want, like in the examples mentioned above, to sell as much products as we can.
So as an example, we apply cross-selling in Shopware in the checkout cart because as our customers want to check out, they see another product that they might like, and is very likely to add that product to their cart, this way the shop will profit more.

To make our customers buy more from our store, we will show them related products that they might enjoy, that will make them think if they want that product. It’s very likely that the suggested product will be purchased, since the article will be optimized according to their preferences.
